Head Coach Kris EGR CrewKris Waschbusch — Head & Novice Coach

Kris rowed for 4 years on the University of Wisconsin-Madison Women’s Rowing Team.  Her success included placing first and second at Nationals and placing second at Head of the Charles. She served as the captain of her team her senior year. After college she rowed for the Boston Rowing Club (BRC) in Boston, MA.  Kris joined EGR Crew after a 14 year hiatus from the sport.

 

 

 

 


 

Brian Chorney — Varsity Coach Brian_web

Brian rowed 5 years at Case Western Reserve University, holding team lightweight erg records and spending four years as captain.  After moving to the Boston area, he competed for Community Rowing Inc., Gentle Giant Rowing Club, and tThe Little Harbor Boat Club.  Brian served as the head coach at Endicott College in Beverly, MA from 2008 to 21012, leading the Gulls to two New England Collegiate Rowing League Championships. After two years away from the sport, Brian joined the EGR Crew staff in January 2015.

 

 

 


 

Katie –Assistant Coach Katie_web

Katie began rowing in 2006 as a freshman at East Grand Rapids high school and rowed until her senior year. After suffering a knee injury Katie has continually supported her team.  Katie recently graduated from Grand Valley State University and has been with EGR Crew since fall 2013.

 

 

 

 

 


 

rachelRachel — Varsity Girls Coach

Rachel began rowing at the Bay City Rowing Center at the age of 14.  She competed throughout high school as part of the Bay City Central High School Rowing Club.  She carried on her love of rowing into college participating intramural at Grand Valley State, volunteering at the Wyandotte Boat Club and learn-to-row clinics.  Rachel joined EGR Crew in the summer of 2012.

 

 

 


 

Dr. Tom Getz — Riggergetz

Doc Getz began rowing while attending medical school at the University of Iowa in 1981. He has rowed non-competitively since 1990.  Doc has been with East Grand Rapids Crew since the team began in 1999, with his daughter on the team for its first four years.  He looks after and maintains the boats and other equipment, helped by a team of dedicated equipment volunteers.
